They have investigated the use of photodynamic therapy for mesothelioma, an aggressive cancer that usually occurs in the thin layer of tissue that lines the lungs and is typically caused by asbestos exposure. 24 malignant pleural mesothelioma patients were treated with photodynamic therapy using Photofrin and the ML7710 laser following surgical tumor debulking.
