Modulight Introduces High-Power Yellow and Orange Lasers to Bridge the “Yellow-Orange Gap”
Modulight announces a major expansion of its VECSEL laser portfolio with the introduction of high-power yellow and orange wavelengths. The new VECSEL additions to the ML6600-based product family deliver several watts of output power with excellent beam quality, wavelength flexibility, low-noise, configurable linewidth and mode of operation with industry-leading reliability. These lasers close the long-standing “yellow–orange gap”, enabling reliable access to the 570–630 nm region.
The yellow and orange modules integrated into ML6600 platform, are well suited for applications ranging from life sciences to quantum technologies, at key wavelength such as 572 nm, 578 nm, 589 nm, and 614 nm. The yellow laser light is used in ophthalmology, dermatology, microscopy, flow cytometry, astronomy, quantum computing and sensing, spectroscopy, and light projection. The orange wavelengths (>600 nm) are important in quantum applications, genomics, and medical applications.
With this release, Modulight now offers a continuous VECSEL wavelength range from 460 to 630 nm, covering key wavelengths such as 488 nm, 493 nm, 532 nm, 561 nm, 577 nm, 589nm, 592 nm, and 615 nm, extending coverage into the previously challenging yellow-orange region.
The new lasers are based on Modulight’s in-house VECSEL technology and the tailorable ML6600 platform, supporting modulation from microseconds to continuous-wave operation. Alongside a robust and modular system design, the lasers feature a user-friendly interface, enabling straightforward system control and full Python-compatible SDK support. Customers benefit from a wide 5–100% dynamic range of power adjustment, ensuring precise control for sensitive applications. The system also offers excellent long-term stability and can be preconfigured for application-specific wavelength requirements.
Dr. Petteri Uusimaa, Modulight’s Founder and CTO says: “For our customers, this new laser provides not only reliable access to yellow and orange wavelengths, but also an exceptionally fast and intuitive user experience. We consistently hear from users how easy our systems are to take into use, and I believe this stems from our background in critical life-science and medical applications where usability truly matters. With this launch, we are setting a new standard for high-value-add application areas – including quantum technologies – where both performance and ease of use are equally essential.”
