Modulight Introduces Laser Engines for Microscopy
Modulight proudly announces new variants of its ML6600 platform, designed specifically for the demanding requirements of microscopy illumination, such as super-resolution microscopy. These advanced solutions support both single-wavelength and multi-wavelength configurations, tailored to meet diverse customer needs in imaging applications.
ML6600 platform provides all key wavelengths for microscopy—for example 405 nm, 488 nm, 561 nm, and 638 nm (other wavelengths available upon request)—delivered via fiber-coupled or free-space beam options. Light is delivered through exceptionally small single fiber cores, starting from 25 µm core for single wavelength and 50µm core for multiwavelength configurations. Modulight has achieved an industry milestone by coupling up to four wavelengths into a single small-core fiber (25 µm core for single-wavelength and 50µm for multiwavelength), ensuring superior spatial coherence and sharper image resolution. Larger core fibers are also supported for broader application flexibility.
“The ML6600-based laser solutions redefine what’s possible in optical microscopy,” says Dr. Petteri Uusimaa, CTO, Modulight Corporation. “We’ve engineered these systems to push the boundaries of power, precision, and stability, helping to achieve unprecedented clarity in imaging.”
The platform delivers high power levels across a wide dynamic range, starting from as low as 2 mW and scaling to multiwatt outputs, making it compatible with a variety of microscopy illumination needs. Modulight’s proprietary despeckling technology reduces speckle noise, while intensity profile beam shaping ensures uniform samples illumination, producing consistent results even in the most challenging imaging conditions.
With excellent power stability, the ML6600 platform guarantees reproducibility and data integrity during long-term imaging experiments, enabling researchers to visualize molecular structures just a few nanometers apart.
Designed for seamless integration into both research and commercial microscopy systems, the ML6600 platform combines a compact, robust design with cutting-edge cloud connectivity for remote diagnostics and predictive maintenance, ensuring uninterrupted operation in the most demanding environments.
