Modulight strengthens its position in Japan

Tampere, December 2nd, 2002 – Modulight, Inc. (Tampere, Finland) and High-Tech Corporation (Tokyo, Japan) have signed a distribution agreement that results in immediate co-operation. The purpose of the agreement is to sell and promote Modulight’s products in Japanese market. Modulight’s product portfolio covers optoelectronic (OE) epiwafers, OE chips and packaged components.

High-Tech Corporation and Modulight provide product solutions that cover processing of OE component to the levels specified by the customers. Modulight works in close co-operation with customers, offering them high product performance, customized products, cost-efficiency and volume production capability.

Dr. Petteri Uusimaa, Modulight’s CEO tells that Modulight has co-operated with Japanese companies from the very beginning of the company: “With this agreement we will further strengthen our position in Japanese market. High-Tech Corporation has wide coverage in Japan and strong knowledge of optical products and the market segment in general. Working together with High-Tech Corporation we expect to have significant increase in our market share in Japan and further improve our profitability”.

Dr. T. Nakahara, High-Tech Corporation’s President says: “We have been focusing on telecom market for more than 14 years. We will strengthen sales utilizing our most valuable assets, our sales force, and our knowledge of the rapidly changing market trends. We will provide optical transmission component solutions to the customer and rapidly submit the feedback from the Japanese market to Modulight. Our goal is to take leadership in this industry. We will do whatever needed to achieve it”.
