Study investigated the potential of EGFR/HER2-targeted photoimmunotherapy as minimally invasive therapy for breast cancer. When activated with ML7710 laser, photoimmunotherapy significantly decreased cell viability of canine mammary cancer cell lines. In canine mammary tumor bearing mouse model, therapy also significantly suppressed tumor growth and prolonged survival. The study showed potential of the approach to be used in canines for treating sporadic breast cancer before use in humans.
