10th anniversary year ending with record revenue for Modulight

Whereas year 2009 was struggling for many of the companies in the laser field, year 2010 started with good activity right from the beginning. This was true also for Modulight as we concluded the first half of the year with sales 30% up from previous year and are ending 2010 with record revenue and financial result. We could not have wished for better timing for that, as we celebrated this year the 10th anniversary of the company. On this occasion I would like to thank again to the customers and business partners who took part into our parties in January at Photonics West and in August at our headquarters in Finland. That was fun and resulted also into the birth of 'Modulight quartet', who we hope to entertain us also in the future.

Modulight's record performance in 2010 was mainly the result of increased business of our existing customers complemented by some new interesting accounts. Defense and medical markets remained the largest growers and we saw several production ramp ups taking place for coming years, including IR laser chips to sport range-finders, OEM-laser modules to medical equipment and red lasers for display and projection. Along with these high-power laser applications we were happy to witness growing business in Test&Measurement segment where our pulsed lasers found their way to OTDR application to support increasing business activity in communications market. I am confident that our continuous development efforts for existing products and successful launch of new product platforms, like the single-emitter based OEM-systems, will help us to maintain our competitiveness and continuous growth of business also in the coming years.
