High-power collimated laser modules
This fall Modulight introduced a new generation
of high power collimated laser modules. Built around the proven
9-mm TO-can package, these laser modules target customers in need
of high-brightness laser sources with low beam divergence.

1470 nm high-power lasers
These lasers emitting at 1470 nm are mainly targeted to industrial
and medical applications, like soft materials processing, plastic
welding, fiber amplifier pumping and medical applications, such
as vein surgery. Designed for continuous-wave operation, the ML1789
laser bar provides an output power of 15 W whereas the single-emitter
ML1802
reaches 600 mW power levels. As an option, the introduced products
are offered from chip level to packaged and fiber coupled lasers
as any other Modulight products.

830 nm single-mode high-power
lasers
830 nm single-mode lasers
(LumiLase),
are housed in a 5.6 mm TO-can and produce up to 50 mW power (product
code ML1545).
Applications directly benefiting from this release include: laser
pointers for dusty and underwater environments, distance measurement,
laser illumination, and range finding.

Modulight lasers for
medical applications
|
Lasers are increasingly deployed in medicine
from surgery to therapeutic procedures including ophthalmic and
cosmetic applications. In surgery, lasers are used to cut, coagulate,
and vaporize and various types of lasers and pulse energies are
used based on the absorption properties of the target tissue. Typically
surgery lasers deploy diode lasers either directly or for optical
pumping of a Nd:YAG lasers. Modulight's ChiliLase,
RangerLase
and LumiLase
product families fit well to this type of applications.
|
|
|
Red
laser diodes and bars included in Modulight ChiliLase
product family are needed for photodynamic therapy (PDT) and low level
laser therapy (LLLT). PDT is an important technique for the treatment
of cancer, age-related macular degeneration, psoriasis and for bacteria
reduction in dentistry. LLLT is typically used for therapeutic and/or
stimulating skin treatments and involve lower laser power doses than
e.g. surgical operations. |
