Dr. Shafirstein is the Director of Clinical Research, photodynamic therapy center at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. His research is focused on developing treatment planning and dosimetry systems for photodynamic therapy of cancerous tumors.

Dr. Cengel is a Clinician-Scientist who specializes in development and application Photodynamic Therapy as a part of multi-modality cancer treatment treatment strategies.

Prof. Szeimies is actively involved in clinical and basic research in dermatological PDT since 1989. He is currently Vice-President of the European Society of PDT in Dermatology.

Ron Allison MD is currently a medical director for 21st Century Oncology. He is a board certified radiation oncologist with a long clinical and scientific track record in PDT. Dr. Allison serves as Editor in Chief for the Elsevier Journal Photodiagnosis and Photodynamic Therapy.

Dr. Katie Murray, D.O., Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center

Dr. Murray is a member of the laboratory research evaluating photodynamic therapy in urological cancers.  Vascular targeted photodynamic therapy is being evaluated in the pre-clinical and clinical setting in several cancers across the institution.  Her research is focused primarily on developing specific treatment parameters to decrease toxicity and maximize treatment response.

Dr. Patrick Ross Jr, The Ohio State University

Dr. Ross is Chair of Surgery at Main Line Health System and Adjunct Profesor of Surgery at Ohio State University. He has used PDT to treat patients with lung and esophageal cancers. Dr. Ross leads a 12 center outcomes registry in photodynamic therapy.

Dr. Merrill Biel, University of Minnesota Medical School

Professor in the departments of surgery, otolaryngology, and family practice
Clinical professor in the School of Veterinary Medicine
Dr. Merrill Biel is an Otolaryngologist – Head and Neck Surgical Oncologist at Ear, Nose and Throat Specialty Care of Minnesota and Medical Director of Head and Neck Oncology at the Virginia Piper Cancer Institute at Abbott-Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis. He is a Professor in the Departments of Surgery, Otolaryngology, Family Practice and in the Schools of Veterinary Medicine and Dentistry at the University of Minnesota. He has been involved in the development and treatment of Head and Neck Cancers with PDT since 1990, as well as antimicrobial applications of PDT.

Dr. Herbert C. Wolfsen, Mayo Clinic

Dr. Wolfsen’s research has focused on the diagnosis and endoscopic treatment of Barrett’s disease and early esophageal cancer. This includes the development and optimized utilization of diagnostic endoscopic techniques such as confocal laser endomicroscopy and spectroscopy (fluorescent, light scattering and diffuse reflectance), as well as endoscopic resection and ablation using modalities such as photodynamic therapy, carbon dioxide and liquid nitrogen cryotherapy, and radiofrequency ablation.

Dr. Thomas Mang, SUNY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
Dr. Thomas S. Mang is the Director of Research for the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and the Great Lakes Biomedical Laser Research Center, at the University at Buffalo, School of Dental Medicine.  His career extends from basic research to clinical trials n photodynamic therapy including working at Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Diomed lasers and Axcan Pharma.  His current research includes the application of PDT in the eradication of microbial disease.
